The Bright Side of the Biggest Enemy of OITNB Inmates: Desi Piscatella.

by Evil Jenji

Piscatella is probably the most hated character in the Orange is the New Black series. His participation was short and unforgettable for the plot. P-I-S-C-A-T-E-L-L-A was responsible for the death of Poussey, for the riot of the entire fifth season, and changed Taystee’s story until the end of the series, when she is wrongly accused of her murder at the end of the riot. One thing we can say without a doubt: Brad William Henke’s performance was exceptional. But do you know him behind this story?

If you are one of the people who hates Piscatella at OITNB, you are not alone, but what about Brad William Henke? The guy is extremely friendly, he is always talking to the fans, and when he comes to incorporating Orange’s greatest villain, he could pass for being unfriendly, but not.

I’m one who really likes to talk to the actors and crew, they rarely answer me, but Brad is different, he does. My theory is that if we are on a social network the goal is to socialize, if you like unilateral communication, you are missing out on the best part of being able to talk to anyone, but this is just my opinion. Let’s go back to Brad, his character died in Orange, but the fans of course, after so many years, still want to talk about Piscatella. Look at Brad’s request:

I went to talk to my friend Google to find out curiosities about Brad. And we started with two. First Curiosity: Did you know that he participated in the series Lost? I love Lost and I couldn’t remember him! I’m a really weird fan, look at some pictures of him on Lost.

Brad William Henke – Lost

Second curiosity: Former University of Arizona football player Brad William Henke played for UA in 1987 and 1988 after transferring from a junior college. He played as an offensive lineman with the Denver Broncos for one season, playing in the Super Bowl loss to San Francisco in 1990. SUPER BOWL GUYS!

INTERVIEW BRAD WILLIAM HENKE

KFROG 95.1 Brad William Henke discusses his role in “The Stand” on CBS All Access – Actor Brad William Henke played the role of someone we all love to hate: Desi Piscatella in the Netflix hit show “Orange Is the New Black.” He discusses working on that show, as well as “Justified,” and his latest role of Tom Cullen in the CBS All Access miniseries “The Stand.” The former football player also shares how Dolly Parton helped him prepare for that role (in a roundabout way) and what’s been more challenging: acting or playing in the Super Bowl.

His latest work is the series The Stand with Whoopi Goldberg.

CBS website – Breakout “Orange Is the New Black” star and SAG Award winner Brad William Henke makes a statement in the star-packed limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s iconic 1978 novel, THE STAND, which premieres on CBS All Access on Thursday, December 17th. Henke plays Tom Cullen opposite Whoopi Goldberg, James Marsden, Amber Heard and Alexander Skarsgård. In an ominously well-timed series, THE STAND is adapted from the Stephen King novel of the same name which is about the Biblical aftermath of a global pandemic that kills 98 percent of the population, setting a stage for a clash of good vs. evil.

I had the opportunity to ask him a question too: What has Piscatella brought to your career? He kindly replied: It brought me recognition because so many people saw my work – and I have had more high level opportunities since then 🙂

For me Brad William Henke, besides being an excellent actor, is someone similar to the character Shrek. He’s big, he’s scared when he looks angry, but he’s sweet. Think about it the next time you watch Orange is the New Black.
