Where are the actresses from Orange is the New Black?

By Evil Jenji

Several actresses from Orange Is the New Black as soon as they finished the series were already in important new work. Good examples of this are Selenis Leyva in Dairy of a Future President and Samira Wiley in The Handmaid’s Tale. Others haven’t settled on just one role, they’re working on shorter projects. The fact that after the end of OITNB and Pandemic, each one looked for the best alternative to deal with the situation. I researched where some of them are and I bring them here for you. lets go!

Laura Prepon, where are you?

Since the end of Orange is New Black, Laura has not acted, has done absolutely nothing related to show business. Instead, she wrote a hit book for parents, You and I, the Mothers: A Raw and Honest Guide to Motherhood, and launched her line of cookware, PrePon Kitchen. She hasn’t released any news about having dropped out of acting. The best news we’ve had since 2019 is that she officially left Scientology. In my opinion, if she hasn’t announced that she has left her artistic career, maybe she’s just looking for the right project.

The That ’70s Show spin-off is also on its way, but initially without the participation of her character Donna. Prepon took to Instagram to post a recent photo of herself with Smith along with the caption, “Can’t wait to see Red & Kitty together again!” Helmed by showrunner Gregg Mattler, That ‘90s Show will follow Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric and Donna, who is visiting her grandparents in Point Place, Wisconsin for the summer. Prepon wrote she “couldn’t be happier” for Rupp and Smith, but didn’t reveal if she would reprise her role as Donna in the upcoming spinoff. Check out Prepon’s post below:

Uzo Aduba, where are you?

Perhaps Uzo is one of the most productive actresses since the end of OITNB. She took advantage of the series’ success to achieve wonderful flights and projects! I really believe that we’ll still see Uzo with an Oscar in her hand, which will undoubtedly do justice to all her talent. My dream is to see her in comic roles more often….She with Danielle Brooks and Adrienne Moore, who miss these 3 making us laugh and cry!

Since finishing OITNB she’s been in Amazon Prime’s Solos as well as Hulu’s Mrs America alongside Cate Blanchett. Coming up next year, she’ll play Edie in Painkillers, Netflix’s series about the opioid crisis.

In this period, Uzo lost his beloved mother, who was his biggest supporter. He also got married, and the coolest thing is that the chosen one is as nice as she is.

Where are you, Dascha Polanco?

In addition to starring in Lin Manuel Miranda’s musical film In The Heights, Polanco also returned to OITNB costar Natasha Lyonne for a role in her Netflix series Russian Doll. Polanco has a number of TV roles to come.

she will soon star in NBC’s comedy series “Dangerous Moms”. Adaptation of the Spanish series, “Señoras del (H) Ampas”. The plot follows four friends who end up killing a woman during a food processor demonstration. Now they fear people will think they killed her on purpose. And that’s why the group of friends try to hide her body.Polanco will play Pia, a popular saleswoman and blogger about mothers.

She is a Show! Searching her latest stuff, I found this video of questions and answers really cool, watch it…and understand why I’m a fan of hers!

where are you, Jenji Kohan?

Jenji maintains complete secrecy about possible future projects. Since the end of OITNB she has done some cool projects like Teenage Bounty Hunters. But my favorite was without a doubt Glow. Glow had the potential to be as good as OITNB, but was abruptly canceled in the middle of the pandemic without a proper end. Even today this makes me sad. I think Jenji has been rethinking her life a lot, maybe looking for answers at nature in its essence. I notice this through her profile on Instagram. Since her son’s tragic death in late 2019, she has been in the process of rebuilding. I’m rooting for her, always. May something even more revolutionary be born from this reconstruction! We need people who know what points should be played to question the audience. She knows how to do this very well.

Natasha Lyonne, where are you?

Natasha has written, directed and acted on one of Netflix’s coolest post-OITNB projects. I imagine everyone knows Russian Doll! The pandemic significantly delayed the production of Season Two. According to what I was researching, this should only happen in 2022. My fear was that because of the pandemic the project would be abandoned. I was tense! But OK! The second season is in the final stages. Natasha is the female band, composes, plays and conducts the band! It seems to me to be of inexhaustible creativity. I really want to see this second season, with natasha on the screens is almost the same satisfaction when OITNB released a season.

But that’s not all. The Peacock platform commissioned the production of the first series created by Rian Johnson, the filmmaker of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Among Knives and Secrets”. The attraction will be called “Poker Face” and will star Natasha Lyonne.

Taryn Manning, where are you?

She said: “I don’t want to keep playing characters that pass away”. The “Orange Is the New Black” star appeared on “Salon Talks” to discuss Hollywood and why she’s ready to laugh. Watch the full episode of “Salon Talks ” here or read a Q&A of our conversation below to hear more about how “Orange Is the New Black” changed her as an actor, who it was working with Brittany Murphy on “8 Mile” and why she’s ready “to play something a little more lighthearted.”

Where are you, Lavarne Cox?

Perhaps the person who stood out most after Orange is the New Black was Laverne Cox, not only for his immense talent but for his important representation as a transgender person.

Laverne has made a series of cameos. But one of her works that I liked the most was Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen by Netflix, where she also served as executive producer. Disclosure is a history of Hollywood’s problematic transgender stereotypes and tropes is explored in an eye-opening new film. You need to watch this!

Cox has been noted by her LGBT peers, and many others, for being a trailblazer for the transgender community, and has won numerous awards for her activist approach in spreading awareness. Her impact and prominence in the media has led to a growing conversation about transgender culture, specifically transgender women, and how being transgender intersects with one’s race. She is the first transgender person to be on the cover of Time magazine, be nominated for a Primetime Emmy, and have a wax work in Madame Tussauds, as well as the first transgender woman to win a Daytime Emmy as an executive producer. In May 2016, Cox was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from The New School in New York City for her progressive work in the fight for gender equality.

MORE ABOUT OITNB

Taylor Schilling, where are you?

Taylor has been working regularly, most of the time doing supporting roles that don’t make use of their full artistic potential.

The Bite series follows two neighbors, played by Schilling and Audra McDonald, during the second wave of Covid-19 in New York. Each tries to maintain the balance of personal and professional life while trying to survive. Her next up is set to play a key part in the Pam & Tommy biopic alongside Lily James.

My suggestion to her would be to find a good story and produce it! The vast majority of good female roles today are projects that had the help of actresses. Maybe she calls Laura Prepon to produce too?

Where are you, Kate Mulgrew

Since the end of OITNB back in 2019 Mulgrew has continued being the all-round sci-fi legend that she is, and reprised her role as Captain Kathryn Janeway in the latest Star Trek reboot, Star Trek Prodigy. A role she first played back in 1995 (Cosmopolitan)

Paramount+ has announced the quick renewal of “Star Trek: Prodigy”, their latest animated series from the trekker universe, which was released just two weeks ago in the US.

In addition to introducing new characters, the series rescues an iconic presence in the franchise, Captain Kathryn Janeway, again played by Kate Mulgrew, only this time as a computer hologram based on the original Captain of the Voyager spacecraft.

The Captain serves as a guide for newcomers to the series, teenagers from different planets who by chance find an abandoned Starfleet ship and plan to use it to live various adventures, learning with the hologram on board how to navigate through space.

I would like to end this post with a quote by Taylor Schilling that I think is very appropriate and that symbolizes the strength, not just of the individual, but much more of the group. She said: What unites us is stronger than trying to divide us. A really beautiful speech! Let this phrase stay in the air just so that the gods want to unite them again, because they will really be much stronger.
